Photo: Montree_VarietyartRecently, my mother's group went away for a night without the kids. Ahhh ... bliss! We had set the date six months ago to give everyone enough time to organise baby sitters/partners and to mentally prepare to be away from our kids. Ok ... so the latter wasn't that difficult!
We stayed at the Cape Schanck RACV resort in the Mornington Peninsula (just over an hour from Melbourne). We booked a 3 bedroom villa (all with ensuites) and it had everything we needed - a massive open plan lounge/dining room with a kitchen. With the RACV discount, we paid approx $60 per person, which included a gorgeous breakfast in the dining room. What a bargain!
We got down to Sorrento for lunch on Saturday and just enjoyed window shopping without hearing "can I have a biscuit please", "I'm bored!", "can we go yet?". We actually got to try on some clothes without having our kids doing a commando crawl under the cubicle to escape and we ate lunch in a very cute, but small cafe that wouldn't have been pram friendly! Ahhhh ... bliss!
After visiting some other cafes for coffee and cake ... we headed back to the resort for some girly catch up time. We listened to music, sat and chatted and finished conversations (!), read trashy magazines, grazed on food, and we hoed into a couple of blocks of chocolate! Ahhhh ... bliss!
On the Sunday, we had organised a spa day at the Peninsula Hot Springs. Now this was what everyone was looking forward to. We hopped in and out of the springs of differing temperatures, we all had massages and facials done at the same time in a Turkish like marque, we ate a delicious lunch in our fluffy bathrobes and slippers .... ahhhh bliss!
So to all you deserving Mums ... I hope this gives you a little nudge to organise your well earned weekend away with the girls. You deserve some "ahhhh ... bliss" time!

Sounded like a completely divine time! A couple of girlfriends and I had a weekend in the city staying at a very fancy hotel. Will be a while before I have another weekend away though.
Sounds glorious, I have no doubt we all wish we were there!
OK, I am so totally jealous now!!! Good on you for getting some well deserved time out :D
Haven't you just made me so envious! You are right; Mum's need time out too. It's great to hear you had so much fun.
Wow, it sounds like paradise.
I've lined up my mum to look after the babe for a couple of nights the minute I finish breastfeeding! It will be off with the husband for the weekend, just like the pre-baby days. Sigh...
