Apart from the wedding, another highlight of our recent trip was taking Groover to Alcatraz. I went 12 years ago and the experience just blew me away. Its honestly one of the best tours I've been on - the ticket (USD $24) includes the 15 minute return ferry ride, entrance and an audio tour. Just another tip ... make sure you book before your holiday to San Francisco. Its gets sold out quickly and its hard to get tickets if you're only in town for a few days.
I wasn't sure if the tour would be appropriate for Groover, but after being reassured by the booking agent, he loved it! It kept him engrossed for the hour and the audio tour weaved us around the cell blocks, telling us amazing stories of the famous inmates and what life was like in Alcatraz. This is a definite must for everyone visiting San Fran!
Union Square is in the heart of San Fran's shopping district and its literally a block that has a little bit of grass, a cafe and parking underneath. Its a great place for people watching ... so we enjoyed a "great American Hot Dog" and just relaxed for a couple of hours here. Groover enjoyed playing with my camera and he's now quite the budding photographer! I also managed to have my shopping fix around Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman-Marcus and Victoria Secrets ... so I'm now all shopped out!
As we flew home ... Groover asked "when can we show Daddy and BC around San Fran'd'isco?" (as Groover calls it!). Ahhh... what an amazing opportunity that I could share this great travel experience with Groover.

I am sure that Groover would have loved Alcatraz. I know my boys would have.
