New Year's Resolutions

Every year I like to make New Year's resolutions and try to stick at it! Ahhh, famous last words. In the past, my New Year's resolutions usually consisted of "I'm going to eat healthier and exercise more" ... sound familiar?

Well this year ... this one point was no where in sight! Instead, I've decided that "I'm going to be more horizontal!" Ok, before your mind starts working overtime ... I mean more easy going, chilled, not sweat the small stuff! I've just felt that over the past few years I'm getting more uptight with things that wouldn't usually bother me. Maybe its just me getting older and more anal!?

I'm finding that in the last couple of years, I'm probably not as patient or chilled like I was in the first few years of being a Mum. I hate to say it, but I've turned into a nagger - "pack up your bedroom, how many times have I asked you not to do that, don't forget to wash your hands, hold the cup with both hands, " etc etc. Every time I say the same things over again, I cringe but I just can't stop. Well this is it ... I'm going to bite my tongue a bit more and let them be - if its not going to really hurt them ... its not a big deal!

So far, so good! Ok, so its only been a week into 2008 - but hey... baby steps!

Anyone out there with New Year's Resolutions they would like to share? Outing ourselves might make us more likely stick to it!

Hi, I posted these resolutions on another site which was looking at NY resolutions. (www.emomsathome.com/blog/) I certainly has some similar type stuff on my list.
My Goals for 2008 are in no particular order:
(1). Be able to answer the question “How have you been?” with “Calm and Relaxed” as opposed to “busy”.
(2). See more live music.
(3). Start earning an income whilst still being at home (I have been out of the paid workforce for 6 years!).
(4). Drop 3 kg in extra weight and stick to my gym sessions 3 times a week.
(5). Let my children do more for themselves, as is age appropriate.
(6). Have a family holiday.
(7). Understand more about the blogoshere.
Cheers Planning Queen

I hear you Laine :) I am certainly less laid back now than when my kids were little but I think that has more to do with how much I was working over the last 3 years. This year's resolution is to work less, play more and be a more relaxed Mummy so maybe we can support each other's goal :)

I appreciate your comments and I think both of you have some really simple but great "goals" for this year. Let's hope we can stick to them! Thanks Planning Queen - will check out the website!
